Iraqi Journal of Agricultural Research (IJAR) employs a double-blind peer review system to ensure the quality of its publications. All manuscripts should be submitted to the IJAR secretariat or emailed.

  1. Submission of Article: The corresponding or submitting author submits the article to the IJAR Secretariat. This is usually via an online system or hand delivery.
  2. Structural Assessment: Upon submission, the manuscript undergoes a structural assessment by the Editorial Manager. This initial review checks the article's composition and arrangement against the journal’s Author Guidelines to ensure it includes the required sections and stylizations. It's important to note that the quality of the article is not assessed at this point, but rather its adherence to the journal's guidelines.
  3. Editorial Board Member Check: The manuscript is sent to an editorial board member who specializes in the topic of the study, to clarify his initial opinion regarding the appropriateness of the research for publication or not, and nominate three reviewers if he finds that the manuscript meets the criteria for publication in the journal. After that, the editorial board member sent the manuscript to the IJAR Secretariat, which sent it to two reviewers who were nominated.
  4. Review is conducted: A reviewer sets time aside to read the article several times. The first read is used to form an initial impression of the work. If major problems are found at this stage, the reviewer may feel comfortable rejecting the article without further work. Otherwise, he will read the article several more times, taking notes in order to build a detailed section-by-section review. The review is then sent to the IJAR Secretariat, with a recommendation to accept or reject it, or else with a revision request (usually flagged as either major or minor) before it is reconsidered.
  5. Journal Evaluates the Reviews: The Editorial Manager considers all the returned reviews before making an overall decision. If the reviews differ widely, the editor may invite an additional reviewer so as to get an extra opinion before making a decision.
  6. Primarily Decision: The Editorial Manager sends a decision email to the author, including any relevant reviewer comments. The reviewer's name is anonymous to the author(s).
  7. Author Send Revised Manuscript: The author should make the changes that were asked by the reviewer to do, and should highlight these changes in red or yellow shadow.
  8. Author(s) must review his paper in light of the reviewers' comments and return them to the journal within 10 days of receiving them.
  9. Final Decision: If accepted, the article is sent to the page designer, then to the publisher. This final stage of the process underscores the journal's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality in all published work.
