The Iraqi Journal of Agricultural Research (IJAR) accepts and publishes original and outstanding articles in agricultural and veterinary sciences, and other related fields. Provided that these articles are not accepted for publication or published in other journals. The journal publishes articles in Arabic accompanied by an English abstract or English manuscript with an Arabic abstract. Below we list the conditions for publishing in IJAR, which IJAR hope authors will consider:

1.     The editorial board is not responsible for the facts or opinions expressed in this journal, which fall entirely on the author's responsibility.

2.     The journal accepts and publishes original and distinguished scientific research in the agricultural veterinary sciences and related fields.

3.     A manuscript is not acceptable for publication if it has been published or submitted for publication to another scientific journal.

4.     The manuscript is submitted via the journal's e-mail or handed out in three copies, written in Arabic or English, on white (A4) paper, with lines doubling the space.

5.     Starting 16/10/2023, each manuscript submitted for publication in IJAR is subject to screening using plagiarism prevention software Turnitin.

6.     A manuscript is subject to review by specialists, and the author(s) makes the adjustments that the reviewers deem necessary. In the cases where the author(s) is not convinced of some points, they can be addressed in a separate paper. Noting that if rejection is accompanied by substantial amendments, the article will be rejected.

7.     If the manuscript is accepted and the amendments are made, the researcher should submit a revised hard copy and soft copy on a CD as well, to be submitted to the linguistic reviewer in the editorial board after checking by the specialist.

8.     Suppose a manuscript is accepted after reviewing and charges have been paid. In that case, the IJAR provides the author with a formal letter confirming the acceptance of the research for publication and specifying the volume and issue of the journal in which it will be published.

9.      If the reviewers believe that the manuscript is suitable for a (Research Note), then the author should be informed. If the author refuses to publish the manuscript as a research note, the draft manuscript will not be returned to him due to the confidentiality of the research. The research note presents a new idea in a field of scientific or agricultural knowledge, or new results that are limited in quantity. Sections of the Research Note is as follows: title, researcher’s name and affiliation, and both Arabic and English abstracts, each around 75–100 words. Following the introduction are the materials and methods, results combined without a title, and approved references, with a maximum of four pages.

10.  The journal accepts review articles that provide a sufficient number of researchers’ results, which add new ideas from these results to advance research from one level to a higher one. In this case, the materials, methods, results, and discussion may be revised to be written in a new form as the researcher deems necessary, without adhering to the traditional research pattern. The author(s) can also increase the number of references from what is accepted in the journal from other research.

11.  Manuscript sections that are published in this journal (without the research note and the reference article) consist of the following: The title of the research at the top of the page, and the names of the author/s, affiliation, and then the English abstract at the left corner of the page after that is the Arabic abstract compatible with the English abstract, with the author name(s), and affiliation. The keywords at the end of the English and Arabic abstract (these words should not be found in the title of the manuscript); the above paragraphs on the first page should be without columns. Then the introduction, materials, methods, results, discussion, Acknowledgements (if any), and references are written. The English and Arabic abstracts should be written in one continuous piece, without paragraphs of 250-300 words each.

12.  It is prohibited to use any term (abbreviation) before mentioning it in advance. For example, one would state “total soluble solid (TSS),” after which the abbreviation can be used whenever the author(s) want. The English abstract should use lowercase letters, not capital letters, to refer to the day, hour, and measurement. For example, it should use “kg” for kilogram, “g” for grams, “h” for hour, and “d” for day, etc.

13.  The abstract should include the objective, summary of the work, the experimental design (if any), experimental factors and levels, and their effect on the research. The author(s) should write the abstract in a clear, comprehensive, and practical manner, and the research results should be expressed in significant numbers.

14.  The author should write out the manuscript title, abstract, introduction, results, discussion, and references in capital English letters.

15.   If the reference is a book, dissertation, or master’s thesis, the first letter of each word in the title should be capitalized, then the publisher, city, state, and total pages of the book or thesis (pp.). If the quote is from specific pages and mentioned only once, write, for example, “pp.18-12,” at the end of the reference. To illustrate this, see the following examples:

a)    Ali, R. M., (2008). Response of Soybean Cultivars to Rate and Time of N Application. M.Sc. Thesis, Dept. of Field Crop Sci., Coll. of Agric., Univ. of Baghdad. p. 85. (An example of a thesis or report).

b)     Khairo, A. M. (2017). Effect of Deficit Irrigation and Phosphorus Fertilizer on Corn Growth and Yield in A Gypsiferous Soil. Iraqi Journal of Agricultural Research. The 1st scientific conference of combating 1(1): 188-197. (Example of a journal).

  1. Arabic references should be written in English, including theses and dissertations.
  2.  When writing references in the text, indicate the name of the researcher and then the reference number if applicable, such as Steve and Robert [14]. If the sentence is an interceptor, then the reference numbers are serialized upwards, such as some researchers [2, 5, 11] found that nitrogen increases the vegetative growth of plants in this crop.
  3.  Due to the importance of references in any scientific research, it is recommended that the number of references be at least 20, with maximum of 40 references, except for reference articles. The number of references from five years prior to conducting the research should be no less than half of the foreign references approved in the research, reflecting the value of modern information for scientific research. The number of foreign references should be at least two-thirds of the total number of references in the manuscript, as global references are crucial for providing accurate and detailed information in science. Addionally, at least three references from the IJAR should be added.
  4.  Tables, figures, and images used in the research should be clear, precise, and understandable; the location of each must be on the subsequent page immediately after it was cited.
  5.  The location of the table, figure, or image is immediately after it is mentioned on the next page, and this means the draft research presented to the journal, and that the tables are without shading or coloring.
  6. Metric system units (International System of Units or SI. units) must be used in the research.
  7. The same instructions are applied to Arabic-speaking researchers who wish to publish their research in the English language.
  8. Research extracted from postgraduate theses or dissertations indicates at the bottom of the first page (footnote) that it is extracted.
  9. The number of pages of the research shall be in the middle of the bottom of the paper, provided that the number of research pages does not exceed 15 pages.
  10. The editorial board is keen that the duration of the decision-making process for the research topic does not exceed three months from the receipt to decide on its publication.
  11. The editorial board has the right to reject the research without referring to the evaluation in the absence of the conditions of publication referred to in the submitted research.
